Calm of the Storm

Right now, I am blessed. Blessed beyond measure. There is an impending storm out there ~ in the Gulf, but thankfully far enough away we will not really see any kind of damage. We are going to get some rain. Much needed rain. And that is what caused the thoughts I have had stirring all day.

I was out on the back deck, looking upward towards the sky. I looked far beyond the oaks and the pecan trees to see the beauty of the sky that God created. When I looked to the left it was dark as all get out. You could see the storm clouds rolling in already. However, if you looked to the right, you saw a beautiful blue sky with those lovely puffy white clouds. Watching the two merge together you could easily see the blue sky dissapear behind the dark storm clouds. I could hear God tell me "See. Even when the storms come in I am still hear ~ above them."

I am still in awe. As I now ponder, and wonder why now? Why show this to me now when things seem to be going so well. Sure, we are all down under the weather some with our allergies, but life is good right now. As I am writing this, sharing my thoughts, I am also cooking dinner. I was pondering how to share this revelation when I asked "Why now?".

God simply said "I need you to believe now BEFORE the storm comes in, so that you withstand it, and know I am here."

Like I said ... I am in awe.

I love storms, when I am home in my cozy house. I love storms when I am even at school ~ inside. I don't mind driving in them, as long as it isn't flooding, or lightening. BUT I do appreciate them. I have learned to appreciate the calmness before and afterwards. I am in that calmness in my life, and it has been a while. There has been a lot of battle, and growth in the battle. Spiritual, maturity, and even letting go of many bondages. It feels good to be here, and while we never know how long it will last, I have a new found confidence that when the next storm comes, God will be faithful. I will FEEL Him, and He will remind me just as He did today that He showed me ahead of time that I am not alone.

Some of you may be in the midst of the storm. If you are I do hope this helps you, in the way that I was touched to share it. No matter how harsh the winds may blow, how high the water gets, there WILL be a calmness that will come.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."  Deuteronomy 31:6

  1. I haven't gotten on my blog in a while and just today I was reading thru some of the blogs that I follow. I read this one about the storm. Yes we all go thru storms in our life, some bigger and smaller than others. As I find myself in a very small one, I read this and somehow am amazed at how you are so right. God will carry me thru and I look forward to the calmness that will come. Thank you for sharing! :)
